The city of Las Vegas will receive a donation from the Southern Nevada Chapter of the International Code Council to provide swim lessons for toddlers at the Wednesday, Aug. 18, City Council meeting, which will take place following the 8:30 a.m. Redevelopment Agency meeting in City Hall council chambers, located at 400 Stewart Ave.

The Southern Nevada Chapter of the International Code Council has noted the high numbers of children that have drowned in backyard pools in the Las Vegas area annually and is donating $1,500 to the city of Las Vegas to provide swim lessons.

Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow is scheduled to recognize a very successful group of young athletes on the Las Vegas Hawks Little League Team. Councilman Stavros S. Anthony is set to recognize several amateur softball teams that were recently named state champions.

Finally, the City Council will recognize the August Employee of the Month.
