Vehicle Drives Into Convenience Store Injuring Two People

Damage estimate: $10,000-15,000           Description of damage:  Front counter area was completely destroyed, damage to wiring and computer systems for the store, very large front window and damage to inside and outside walls. 

General information about the incident:  Pick up truck ran into one of the main front windows of the Rebel station on the northeast corner of Rainbow and West Charleston. Why the truck ran into the store is under investigation by Las Vegas Metro Police. Driver of truck was not injured. Clerk of store was at the front counter which was behind the large window when the truck ran through the glass.  The force of impact destroyed the front counter and pushed it down onto the store clerk. The clerk had to be freed by firefighters, the clerk was taken to the hospital with leg injuries, did not appear to be life threatening. A patron in the store told firefighters he was in the store at the time of the accident and was complaining of abdominal pain, the patron was also taken to the hospital to be checked out. The accident is under investigation by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police. It appears the store will be closed for while because of damage. The Building and Safety Department of the city of Las Vegas and the Health District of Southern Nevada will be inspecting the store for safety reasons.
