General information about the incident:  For the second day in a row, the LVFR Bomb Squad responded to an eastside residence in which someone was cleaning out a shed on the property and found three items that appeared to be old and military in nature. As it has been advised, the person called authorities and the LVFR Bomb Squad responded. Bomb Squad technicians did a preliminary check of the items and found they were military in nature so they notified Nellis EOD (military bomb squad) who also responded, checked the items and took them from the scene. The exact nature of the items were not specified, the caller said they appeared to be hand grenades. About 10 people were evacuated from two to three homes in the immediate area and Lamb Boulevard was closed from East Charleston Boulevard to Stewart Avenue for a short time.

The LVFR Bomb Squad responds to these types of routine incidents. Many times when people are cleaning out sheds, garages or storage lockers (many times because of a deceased relative), old wartime or military items are found, which usually turn out to be souvenirs. If in doubt, people are encouraged to call authorities and have it checked out before handling any type of device of this type.

Also this evening, the LVFR Bomb Squad responded to an apartment in unincorporated Clark County to retrieve a bag full of shotgun shells that someone wanted to dispose of. The LVFR Bomb Squad also retrieves and disposes of ammunition for the public.
