Starting Monday, August 2, and continuing through the next six to eight weeks, traffic lane restrictions can be expected on Maryland Parkway, between Sahara and Stewart avenues; and on Bonanza Road, between Las Vegas and Nellis boulevards. The traffic disruptions are necessary as a preventative maintenance resurfacing project gets under way to extend the life of these two heavily traveled roadways.
During the approximate hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., traffic lane restrictions will be in effect on Maryland Parkway and Bonanza Road. Each day, the lane restrictions will be modified to accommodate heavy traffic during the morning and afternoon commute hours. The traffic lane restrictions will continue though the overnight hours during some phases of the work.
Maryland Parkway and Bonanza Road will reopen to full access when the improvement project is completed in mid-September.
Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. City of Las Vegas Department of Field Operations personnel are managing the project. Funding for this $2.2 million project is provided by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada and the city of Las Vegas. City funds are coming from the city’s share of the Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax, not from General Fund revenue. Per state law, the city’s share of the Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax must be used solely to repair or restore existing paved roads, streets and alleys.
