The city of Las Vegas will recognize a new hypothermia treatment that is being used to save the lives of heart attack patients at the Wednesday, July 21, City Council meeting, which will take place at 9 a.m. in City Hall council chambers, located at 400 Stewart Ave.
This pioneering treatment is being employed by Las Vegas Fire & Rescue paramedics, and has been successful in helping cardiac arrest patients survive. This process involves dramatically cooling the patient’s body while starting other traditional treatments. Councilman Wolfson will welcome a patient who was saved with this innovative new medical technique.
In addition, Councilman Steven D. Ross will recognize several high school athletes from Ward 6 who have excelled in their sports.
Also, Councilman Ricki Y. Barlow will recognize the humanitarian efforts of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, which is holding its 104th anniversary gala in Las Vegas.
Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese will recognize Peruvian Independence day as part of the city’s diversity initiative.
Finally, the City Council will also recognize the July Employee of the Month and the Senior of the Quarter.
