Starting Monday, July 12, and continuing through the next six months, traffic lane restrictions can be expected in work zones on Cliff Shadows Parkway, between Lone Mountain Road and the 215 Beltway. The traffic flow changes are necessary as work on a $965,000 improvement project gets under way along this two-mile section of roadway that runs parallel to the Beltway.
“The Cliff Shadows Parkway improvement project is going to fill in most of the sections of the road that narrow from two travel lanes, down to one, and then back to two,” said Las Vegas Councilman Stavros S. Anthony, who represents this area of Ward 4. “Removing most of the ‘sawtooth’ gaps should make for a smoother, safer flow of traffic.”
The project also includes the installation of sidewalks, curbs, gutters, storm drainage inlets, streetlights, roadway striping, signage and road resurfacing where needed. A traffic signal will be constructed at the Cliff Shadows Parkway and Alexander Road intersection, and pedestrian crossings with flashers will be installed.
Work will take place during the daytime hours. Cliff Shadows Parkway will remain accessible at all times. Traffic delays and disruptions can be expected.
The entire project is slated for completion in early 2011.
Las Vegas Paving is the contractor. The city of Las Vegas Department of Public Works is managing the project. Funding is provided by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
