The city of Las Vegas Public Works Department plans to construct a new traffic signal at the Main Street and Garces Avenue intersection. Work is scheduled to start the week of July 12 and will take three to four months to complete.
“With all of the new downtown projects under way, including the Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the new Las Vegas City Hall, the Regional Transportation Commission’s new transportation center and more, we need to ramp up to accommodate increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic,” said Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese, who represents this area of Ward 3.
Traffic lane restrictions will be in effect in work zones on Main and on Garces as work progresses. A combination of day and night work can be expected.
The traffic signal installation project is slated for completion in late September or October. Southern Nevada Paving is the contractor. The Department of Public Works will oversee the construction. Funding of the $450,000 traffic signal project is provided by the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.
