Helldorado Days 2010 To Impact Some Downtown Roadways
Rodeo, Fairgrounds And Parade Preparations Begin On Monday

A flurry of activity will soon be underway on the streets of downtown Las Vegas, as crews begin preparations for Helldorado Days 2010 festivities. Las Vegas Helldorado Days will feature a host of activities including rodeo events, a carnival, fireworks, a parade and more. Some events are planned to start in late April, continuing through May 16. To ready the area, temporary road closures and traffic restrictions can be expected.

Starting Monday, April 26, and continuing through Thursday, May 21, Mesquite Avenue will be closed to traffic, between Las Vegas Boulevard and Seventh Street. Also, Sixth and Seventh streets will be closed, between Mesquite and Stewart Avenue. The closures are necessary as crews transform this area to the Helldorado rodeo grounds.

Starting at approximately noon on Thursday, May 13, and continuing through Sunday night, May 16, Stewart will be closed from Las Vegas Boulevard to Seventh, to accommodate pedestrian traffic during the Helldorado events.

On Saturday, May 15, during the approximate hours of 4 and 10 p.m., the Helldorado parade will close Fourth Street, between Las Vegas Boulevard and Ogden Avenue. Coolidge, Hoover and Gass avenues will also be closed, from Casino Center Boulevard to Fourth.

Motorists are reminded that traffic lane restrictions remain in effect on Stewart Avenue, between Las Vegas Boulevard, as work on a sewer installation improvement project continues.

Maps of downtown parking and the parade route are available on the city of Las Vegas Web site at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/helldorado.
